So glad to be linking up again with Monday Made It at 4th Grade Frolics...
A Little Bit of Chevron
Well, I have to say that I have not jumped on the chevron bandwagon--while I have seen chevron all over the blogging world, it just has not caught my fancy. But I do love rustic and burlap--SO when I walked into Hobby Lobby this week and saw some chevron burlap ribbon, I was strangely taken with it. Since my kitchen cupboards are rustic black, I decided to use the ribbon to wrap some of my flameless, electric candles that sit in a wooden bowl on the kitchen table...
I purchased the chevron burlap ribbon, some wider black burlap ribbon, and some black grosgrain ribbon.
First, I cut the black burlap to be about an inch or so wider than the chevron ribbon so that it would be about a half inch wider on both sides when wrapped around. Then I simply wrapped the candle with the black burlap ribbon, secured with double stick tape, and then wrapped the chevron ribbon and secured it as well. I used double stick tape because I did not want the ribbon to be permanently attached to the candle and it is not bulky. The final black grosgrain ribbon helped to secure the wrap as well. Finally, I used a tiny bit of hot glue to secure the end corners of the chevron ribbon in back so it would not be seen.
I originally planned to wrap the other two candles, but it was a little busy for me--I keep things pretty simple. Also, I wanted the illumination of the shorter candles to be visible.
I thought I would share this because it was so quick and easy! Hobby Lobby also has green and red chevron burlap ribbon as well as polka dotted. Burlap ribbon wreaths also seem to be pretty popular again these days, so if you are a chevron fan I am sure you can imagine the possibilities...

Excellent graphics. Just curious, but how long does it take for you to make a set like that? I like that they don't have extremely clean edges. I think that is a pretty cool look.

Thanks you for your kind words. I did the math set in a day. I hand draw things first and I scan them into Adobe Illustrator where I work with colors. I purposely draw them with imperfect edges. I think I am going to do some monsters next... Thanks for your interest.
DeleteCandles look great! I also like the math graphics. Too cute!
